Lorde fans in Auckland were sent into a frenzy on Wednesday afternoon when she hinted at a pop-up show in the city.

The singer posted an image of a pair of jeans on a beach with the word ‘Auckland’ superimposed on it. There was a link to a WhatsApp chat which allowed her to send messages to fans.
“Auckland I wanna play you something … Meet me in the city tonight? Message me if you’re keen”
After seeing Lorde post a photo of a beach on her Instagram, one fan said they drove to the North Shore in the middle of the day thinking that’s where the show would be.
“I would go anywhere for Lorde.”
After hours of waiting for the next update, crowds of fans gathered outside YMCA on Wednesday evening when the location for a pop up show was sent out to some.
Standing outside the venue, a fan from Chile, on their last day in the country said seeing Lorde perform was “the best gift ever”.

Kat and Caitlin felt “honoured”.
“I never need any more luck in my life. This is the most exciting thing that’s happened to me,” Kat said.
Caitlin was Kat’s plus one, “She’s naming her first born after me,” Kat joked.
Maddy and Anika were hopeful they could get in to see Lorde, they’d gone to different venues this afternoon just to get the chance. “We’ll find a way.”
“I drove over an hour to be here,” Maddy said. “I’m committed.”
Lorde’s fourth album, Virgin, is slated for release June 27
